“Today’s lending environment is government service company heavy. There are large rumors that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac will be phased out of existence in the next few years. This could change the lending landscape drastically” says Shane

In the post Shane discusses why the 30 year mortgage may not be around forever Shane states, “Thirty-year mortgages are harder to hedge against. In a different rate environment, maybe the scenario would be different, but for now there would be no incentive to keep offering 30-years as an option.”
